Just starting to get to grips with my 1998 1100 Sport injection.
It has got Termi's fitted, K&N's, and it has been chipped. So pretty standard, then... I have noticed on relatively low throttle openings it tends to burp or fart a fair bit (it seams to be on the induction side into the filters) - not that I am really that surprised, given the above. It pulls fine at higher RPM.......It gets marginally better as it warms up but does not go away.... I have tried Super unleaded in it and it is no different. Now, I realise the answer is to never have it on relatively low throttle openings , BUT I was wondering if for everyday use it would be worth reverting to the original Chip that was supplied with the bike. At the end of the day it is not that easy a bike to live with so I do not mind if I soften it up a bit, as you can imagine the low down torque is pitiful. I have not got any great diagnostic kit for FI, so my options as a "DIY'er" are a bit limited. Any views or suggestions, please? Many thanks.

I just fitted a Termignoni to my Griso and have exactly the same issue. To be fair, it did it on the standard silencer. Just now of course with a more open can, it's a bit louder. Only seems to do it at town speeds and is a bit embarrasing. So much so that when decelerating, say before traffic lights, I pull the clutch in and coast. It's not doing any harm, and I guess it's a simple fuelling / running a little rich issue.

my sport had a racing chip in and I went back to the standard one and ended up keeping the standard one in so it might be worth trying just to see what happens with your bike. I don't know enough on this subject but I ended up making the fuel richer to make it easy to live with everyday riding .
just make sure you got no air leaks on inlets |

How many miles has it done ? I've got a 1998 Sporti with about 36,000km which had very similar symptoms. Now, I'm always one for trying the easy options first so I changed the exhaust gaskets, set the valve clearances, generally checked for air leaks. I downloaded Guzzidiag and set the TPS and T/B balance but still it coughed and farted. This happened ONLY on very light loads and small throttle openings. When giving it a handful it went like a scalded cat.
I then came across this thread:- http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=11660 Have a look here also:- http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=75083.msg1179161#msg1179161 I duly changed the tensioner and now no more shenanigans. The bits cost about £25 and took about 4 hours to do, well worth the effort. Of course I'm not saying that this is the answer in your case but it certainly worked for me.

Thanks guys for the great responses, I will digest when I have a few minutes.
Just got back from an hour's thrash and I notice it happens most between 3000 - 4000 rpms. What I am finding on a new (to me) bike with 34k Km on the clock is that I am bottling it in the bends because I am worried that it will lose power and drop me lower in the bend; so from that point of view I would like to fix it to gain confidence in the bike. Sincere thanks once again. Pete

If you want to look into diagnostic kit, Google Guzzidiag, I think that covers most FI Guzzis.

Thanks for that - I was wondering how one richened up the mixture - I thought that was the function of the ECU....

I got mine richer by adjusting the screw inside the ECU I was so pissed off I took a chance ,I would never do it again get someone with the kit to do it if you go that route

Ahh! A Bold Pilot! But did it make it any better, did it take the pain away? I did quite a bit of reading up on this today and it seems there are a number of remedies that can mitigate the symptoms a bit but the fix appears to be a new tensioner..... I probably need to go through the bike - TPS, etc; I was stupidly hoping just to ride it........ Thanks as ever for the responses.

It shouldn't take you too long to go through the bike and give it a service. You can have the tensioner done in 3 or 4 hours and that's including stops for a cuppa etc, valves are a doddle, download Guzzidiag and get a couple of cables then TPS reset and T/B balance can be done. Maybe call it a half a days work and well worth it. On mine I was able to move the chain very easily with just my fingertips, in fact a good stare would have moved it, the original tensioners are very weak.

You can get Guzzidiag here:- http://www.von-der-salierburg.de/download/GuzziDiag/
Cables here:- http://www.lonelec.co.uk/ I use an old laptop running XP with SP3 installed. There are quite a few threads on Wildguzzi:- http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?board=1.0 and on the V11 Forum :- http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/ afraid you'll have to do a search to pick out the best ones. The Sport workshop manual gives the values for TPS setting. Hope this helps.
