Help my 2006 Griso is showing code 50 (battery error high).
Anyone got any thoughts or experiences of this? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Steve

On the assumption that this is something to do with the alternator/battery voltage I'd put a multimeter across the battery with the engine running and see what it is. Check at a couple of different RPM
If greater than 14.5 volts ish I'd be looking at the voltage regulator on the alternator first. Be pretty sharpish taking the readings it as if it is putting out loads of volts you're in danger of boiling the battery and or blowing bulbs Good luck

The voltage regulator is inside the alternator. Certainly the first thing is to check battery voltage while the engine is running to see if there is a problem.

Set the dashboard function switch (the one above the horn button) to "Mode" (rear) position. Press the "Set" button (at the front of the "Mode" switch) so that at the bottom of the dashboard you see a small battery symbol, and the battery voltage.
I use this as my usual indication of the dashboard, I'm always looking at it during engine start. A multimeter should be more accurate, the dashboard reading is easier and allways available, although it shows 0,2 to 0,5V lower than the actual. Copying from the workhop manual: GENERATOR Single-phase generator with regulated voltage Maximum charge 40A (550W) Charge voltage 14.2 - 14.8 V (5000 rpm) I hope you solve this, keep us informed

A word of caution
I don't know about the G11 but the dash on my B11 always shows the voltage 0.5v lower than reality taken across the battery.
I know this because mine consistently showed a value that was only just above the minimum charging voltage so I borrowed a calibrated Fluke multimeter from work to check. Happily my £10 multimeter matched the Fluke so I can keep an eye on it |

Thanks for the advice to date. I’m hopefully going to get time to give them a shot over the weekend. Will update after that. All help appreciated.
Thanks again Steve

It's a real problem when work/family/life in general gets in the way of fixing your motorcycle
I know 'cos I'm 4 days a week in Aberdeen at the moment leaving no evenings to fettle the bike ready for a ride at the weekend Good luck though Steve
