Hi.  I'm new to Moto Guzzi, but was ready to buy a new V7 II Racer.  A acquaintance has just asked if I'm interested in his brand new 1993 Daytona that has never been titled, ridden, started, etc.  Has original MSO and all materials.  Don't have many details yet or a price.  Please give me your opinion on this model.   Would probably just enjoy owning it and still buy the V7 anyway.  Thank you.

Hmm - very nice. Depending on condition (as in has it been on display and polished within an inch of its life - or moulding away in a damp garage) will dictate its worth.

Either way it will (I would have thought) need all fluids changing, new cam-belts, new battery, tyres etc - that will have disposed of about a £1,000 if you use a service agent.

You can see these on Ebay at the moment at around £10K
That said I nearly got one in good nick a couple of years ago for £3.5K (a dealer with a wad of cash beat me up the A1 to get it Ouch) and typically they sell for around £6K.

THey are great bikes... and a good contrast to the V7.

Adam

Are you asking me or telling me?  I stated I was new.  If you're asking me, then I say IDK.  If you're telling me, then please redirect me to the "right" section.  Thanks.

Moved.

In answer to the question, all depends on price and whether you value it the same. There is no doubt this is a very rare opportunity, but as said above if it's been standing since '93 then all oil seals, belts etc will need attention. How easy that would be to achieve in Alaska and at what cost I really don't know.

Hi and a warm welcome.

Your "potential" new bike belongs under the spine frame group and the webmaster has moved it here for you.

The Daytona's are now a very desirable bike over here and as has been said before price will be entirely dependent on condition.

In addition, the pointers that you were given in respect of necessary maintenance upon purchase are all correct.

Personally, if you can afford it, get it. That engine is one of the best that Guzzi have produced and gives the bike great performance. All other cycle parts are top quality so you should not be disappointed.

Pics would be great if you get the bike or better still before you purchase it so that any further advice can be given.

Cheers DarrylThumbs Up

I didn't pick up the Alaska bit Darryl.... I bet it is one of very very few in the state.
Service agents will be very few (if at all) -
Whatever you do, (assuming it can be persuaded to turn over) do not start it without changing those cam belts.
Agreed re Tarquin's idea on posting some pics

Good luck
Adam

What a gloriously brutal contrast to a v7
Buy it, if the price is right, even if you just stick it on a plinth

Another major advantage that you have is that due to your location, very few ie no one on this forum will steal it from under you whilst deciding whether to buy it or not.LOL
