Hi all I have just purchased new choke cables and lever for my v50 project, may sound like a strange ? but where does the lever mount on the bike, only my project bike had all this missing, thanks all

On my V50iii the lever is on the left cylinder head. It is mounted in a 'P' clip which is secured under the bottom inlet manifold bolt. I presume that this is the original fitment.

Exactly the same as on the big blocks then, from the same era. The choke lever is twin-pull and two short cables then go to the carbs. Routing them can be a s0d. HTH |

The (I presume original) cables on my V50 were too short meaning the adjusters had to be screwed right down otherwise the chokes didn't close properly. I made new ones out of nylon lined cable from Venhill and that gave a lovely smooth operation. It's difficult to get the left hand one fitted clear of the cylinder finning.

One of my V50/3s had the `P` clip fitted to the top of the left inlet manifold and I found this a lot more user friendly (these days it`s a flexibility thing with my body) as the cables seemed easier to route especially the shorter one. CHRIS |
