But the positive is the bike ran perfect and no red triangle.
So dare i say it...the cps is sorted just the O ring to sort now.
Craig
Is that NO red triangle or does it appear and then disappear for the rest of the ride?

The strange thing is ...as the bike stands now it has the original O ring and new cps fitted...i have no red triangle
The bike starts and runs fine and no alarms on diag...2 days ago same setup bike would not start when it did it was eratic red triangle on dash and faults on diag not sure what i did wrong on 1st install but it must of sorted itself out

The exact positioning of the CPS is critical. Bear in mind the gap required is less than 1mm. Just a little out of place (0.5mm extra gap due to an oversize O ring?) would be enough to screw things up.

You didn't ride it in the rain in your jaunt around Germany did you?

Mine had a fault that I eventually tracked to the speed sensor that got water in it

I wonder if your repair activities coupled with a bit of time has dried things out

There could be more than one problem, but the speed sensor won't cause bad running.

I didn't say it would.

My question was whether there was a possibility of water getting into something that might cause the issue that has now gone away either due to Melonmans efforts to fix it OR its drying out

Morning gents...all valid points including the vicar of dibley @tris last day of germany trip the bike stood for a solid q2 hours in terrential rain.dash was covered with my trusty shoe pod.bike then ran perfect from todtmoos to europort.coming of the ferry into hull we were stop start for over an hour in hot weather.just cleared customs and thats when the bike started playing up.rode 10 miles home and it seemed to sort out but red triangle kept showing....and so the story began.

Regarding the sensor gap...my own view is that maybe the damage to the original O ring was enough to throw the gap off.
And maybe the last time i put it all together again luck shined on me and i got the O ring back as near as can be to its original position.a bit like a damaged leaking O ring if turned over and refitted can reseal and save the day....or maybe i am just been an optimist

When faults are cleared on diag are they also cleared from the dash ? Or do they also have to be cleared from the dash via the lcd ?
Are the faults actually stored in the dash or the ecu ?
Could i put my old clocks on the bike with working lcd and see what if any faults show ?
Cheers craig

I would assume a cleared fault code was cleared no matter where you look.
