I remember when it first appeared, at the time it made perfect sense and style wise matched well against whatever else was around. It was the 1970's tho of course. Big smile

Lots of other models were fat and bulbous looking.

Contemporary of the V50 and better in every respect (*) - we were born to hate them.

(*) - Except as everybody knows, the V50 is actually the best bike ever.

Well Cugsy, if you bought 2 more you must have seen some merits! I never had any issues with the roadholding or stopping once I had changed the original tyres and pads. Not the most exciting or quickest ride i accept. Never had the issue with the rocker cover bits but an annoying leak from the water pump seal was the only problem I remember. Hope yours are ok cycle hoarder!

I had 3 of them Chris.Despatched for 6 years and toured on them - and the wife loved the comfy seat. But it had me twitching when it rained or a lovely patch of overbanding on a roundabout moved the back wheel a few inches without telling me.  Toffee soft cam cover nuts - i stripped a couple. Pain in the 'arris water cooling. Crap brakes and heavy....and ugly!   But ideal for despatching
Due to italian electrickery I am saying nowt. Despite nearly giving the Vstrom away the honda has gone...

Still the best bike i ever owned, bought New in 1980 and kept for seven years. Longest i have ever kept a bike. Daily transport for most of that time and never once let me down. Maybe some rose tinted spectacle wearing, but my wife also says that the CX was also the most comfortable bike we have ever had too.
