Hello,
I have been going crazy trying to wire the LED aftermarket tail light. It comes with 3 wires Brown = Running Light Red = Stop Light Black = Earth Original diagram has only 2 wires; Yellow = from Headlight Distributing block > Tail Blue = from Fuse board > Switch > Tail. I have tried all connections and fuses and it's all fine. It works fine when I push the brake pedal but I have no running light. HELP! El__burro

How many wires are on the bike for the tail light? I would guess that the lamp earths through the mounting, so how about using your voltmeter to work out what the existing wires do?

According to all the diagrams I have seen, the yellow is the tail light and blue (or black) is the brake light. But I don't know exctly which model you have. The stop light wire should be connected to the stop light switch. The original does also have the earth to the frame.

I have a V7 850 GT.
This is how I have wired the tail (to the diagram) Brown > Running Light (Yellow) Red > Stop (Blue) Black > to good ground (frame) Yet, it only works with the pedal pressed. Thanks el__burro

The problem is with the Yellow wire from the connectors.
With the multimeter I have realized that it carries no electricity so I plugged it in the black below (+) It works fine, I have running light but also it feels like it interferes with the Horn. What have you plugged on it? Thanks el__burro

1> Running light Tail
2> IGN switch 3 > TBC 4> Running Head light 5> Horn (-) 6> Horn (+) That is how I think it is wired. Thanks el__burro

What's this a picture of? Does the original light work as it should? If so then I suspect your replacement is faulty assuming you have connected the same wires to it. |

That is a close up of the connectors block.
It seems like 6 is the only terminal with +. The tail light works perfectly if i connect 1 (running tail light) to 6 Horn (+) from fuse board. I need to figure out why it shortens the horn. el__burro

Yes, i am trying to follow it, i must have wired something wrong.
i have wired the indicators that are not on the original diagram. Can anyone help to identify what goes on the handlebar switch? For sure number 4 is the horn switch. thanks el__burro

2 is lights on/off and park 3 is a terminal that connects the live (brown) wire to the headlamp main/dip switch 4 is horn Brown = live feed Red/grey = park lights Green = main beam Green/black = dip beam Black = horn When the switch connects brown to contact 2 the park lights are on When the switch connects brown to contacts 2 and 3 the headlight is on and the park lights (tail light) When the switch connects brown to the contact to the left of 2 and the left hand contact 2 the lights are off I hope this helps |

Please note that the diagram above has the main and dip wire colours switched! I have now corrected this and have drawn the 1972/74 V850 Eldorado wiring diagram

Getting close..
The fault is with the wiring of the light switch, since my switch is located elsewhere and I have used the handlebar one for the indicators. I just need to make a connection from the switch to the connector block (yellow wire to tail light) el__burro
