Mine looks exactly like the Ebay example. The brand is called "Ape" and I think it was made in Poland. The company who supplied it is a UK company called "Ricambio classic Fiat 500 spares".
EDIT...Sorry,"Ricambio International" They also have points for Loops (Fiat 500) Edited by Dave P. - 11 Jul 2019 at 12:35 |

Was it one of these? Number 12. Would number 13 work?

I have an electronic regulator which looks like the Ebay example and fitted it to my V7 Special. It is sold for the Fiat 500
I then realised that it was rated at only 16 amps.Having then learned to adjust the original 25 amp unit I put the original back on The solid state one is carried as an emergency back up. It worked fine whilst on the bike but I was concerned about its lower rating ,having extra lighting on the bike. Edited by Dave P. - 10 Jul 2019 at 17:00 |

After buying two new electro-mechanical units (Ford Falcon, as shown on Greg's site) that were bad right out of the box, a friend purchased this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fiat-500-D-F-L-R-600-Voltage-Regulator-New/233239706149 . I haven't heard back from him how it's working though. |

I have at least six of the Bosch electronic units on customer's bikes for several years, never one single reported issue.

Yes they are very expensive. It's surprising how many companies who offer them for sale state that they are for use with an alternator. The other Bosch electronic regulator, made in Mexico, advertised as being for VW Beetles does have one possible drawback in that the casing is live beneath the thinly anodized surface.

£114.45!? I fear the pricing is adjusted to what vintage Porsche owners will pay, not what classic Guzzi owners will pay (at least not this one). I'll stick with the readily available VW Beetle Bosch electronic v/r for $45.00.

His prices are certainly tasty. £130 (+VAT) to fit an electronic regulator to an RB108 case! Al Osborn only charges £52 for the V-Reg 2 which is acknowledged as one of the better ones available. And fitting one to a Lucas regulator shell is a 30 minute job.

The H4 LED headlight bulbs look interesting Paul. Can be used in a P45 reflector with their adapter. Mind you, not so sure about the £50 price tag, for one.

These people may also be useful:
Classic Dynamo & Regulator conversions I haven't used them, but they appear to be able to put an electronic regulator in the old housing and rebuilding dynamos

For any Loop owner who may not be aware, here is a replacement voltage regulator for Bosch equipped models. It looks like the original mechanical type but is actually electronic.
https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product/707/category/85 They are available in various amperage ratings. 25 amp for the Guzzi. |
