Dear All,
While trying to adjust my clutch cable (which I cannot do) to take out a bit of slack I spent time poking around under the bike with a mirror.. Looking up towards the clutch activating lever (back of gearbox) I could see the little locating stub on the lever but no spring... I thought the handlebar lever didn't spring back well...! I see the spring is just over a quid BUT.... Can you use brute force (and ignorance) to push one in place without having to undo the adjusting nut etc.... ?? The nut on mine is right out, ie no thread showing. The handlebar lever adjuster is also right out so I cannot take up cable slack there either. The bike has a cable fitted with no adjuster, does anyone know where you can get a cable with an adjuster these days? For some daft reason they seem to have been discontinued... Any thoughts appreciated.. Thanks, Adrian Bristol UK |

Dear All,
Just answering my own question in case anyne else finds it useful in future.. If you release the cable at the handlebar end it is then just about possible to pull the clutch actuating rod out far enough to squeeze a new spring into the hole. As mine had no spring present I can confirm the feel of clutch operation is much improved with one in place !! Cheers. Adrian Bristol UK |
