I'll be visiting in Swansea for a few days in October. By public transport though I may hire a car if needed.
Can anyone recommend on special things to do in the area?

The Gower Peninsula isn't far from Swansea, and gets the mildest weather.
In Wales in October you don't need clothes.
You need equipment.

Ignoring the *iss taking, hire the car and have a day driving around the coast on the Mumbles, include a lunch stop at Worms Head, the pub by the car park does good beer and food with a view.

The DVLA is obviously a national treasure, a bit like the Labyrinth on Crete or Hotel California

V7 Classic Black and gold was the best. But green & black was nice too. Now blue is in!

I'd second Gower as probably one of the better sights to see in that area. Go north from Swansea and you are in ex mining country. Go south and you get very wet. LOL

You also have Pendine Sands there, where some world speed records were set. The new electric Bluebird was tested there. But apart from a long flat beach, there is little else to see.

Thanks Brian.
I'll spend 3 nights in Swansea, then off for a few days in London.

Turns out that Swansea is a very nice place to stay and probably to live in too. A Hills and shore combination is hard to beat. There was actually someone there plus they have a 24/7 mega tesco (The Cheddars were an eye opener, magnificent). One must obviously have his own transport to make to most of Wales but I didn't have the time to explore.
Next time.

Our VMCC section quite frequently take a run into Wales. It's great. As soon as you cross the bridge, the traffic and potholes disappear. Its great biking country. Just watch out for the speed cameras and the rain

A mate who lives that way visits M&P motorcycles for a mooch around and a drive over to Thunder Road Bikes in Bridgend for a fry up on occasion which apparently is very good.

I used to live in Cardiff which is a really nice city for a look around. If you hire a car and have time I would be tempted to head over there. Brekky at Thunder Road on the way maybe
