I have an issue that requires dropping engine/trans out of frame. The real "problem" is that (unlike most spine frames) these early ones have no bolted-on front subframe...it is welded on this bike! I have searched and studied everything from the factory manual to internet posts and more...NO help! The factory manual never even mentions removal and "engine out front" methods seem to deal with moving bolt-on front subframes out of the way.

FOR THE LIFE OF ME, I cannot figure a way to get the engine/trans out of this particular frame without taking damn near the entire motorcycle apart! YUK!

The only possibility I have come up with that even resembles an "easy way" is to basically remove the drive shaft, then the rear sub frame that supports the trans, un-bolt the two top trans mounts from the spine, then un-bolt the engine mounts in front...and lower the package straight down. Seems like there's got to be a better way!

A - Has anyone else done it more easily with any better/simpler method they'd care to share? (particularly with pics or PM video!!)

B- If not - does anyone know if my "drop" idea is any good? (I'm open for any suggestions that don't involve torches or hack saws.)

ANY experience and insight GREATLY appreciated!

Don't know this bike had a V11 le mans which bolted to 2 lugs welded to the timing case ..But to get to the hardest thing, the clutch yeh you have to disassemble damn near the whole bike on any Guzzi. There must be a way of disconnecting it all but without pics or a manual ... in the dark. I take it there is no connection to the Timing chest 2/3 of the way up or under the tank can't see why they would weld alloy timing chest to the frame tho'

I guess I wasn't clear. there's no "weld alloy timing chest to the frame". It's the front engine mount on the frame that's welded to the spine...rather than bolted on like later models. Makes it much harder to remove engine and trans.

That pic looks like V11 le mans frame need a support under sump undo 2-3  undo 8 pull out 7 engine gearbox then sits on support you have to take out rear wheel and swing arm roll frame off engine gearbox  same as you would with older bike "9" is a devil to get back in tho'
