Hi folks,

I am facing this odd issue with my 2019 V9 Bobber, when i accelerate only left exhausts is working and the right one is pretty silent. It feels like the air pressure is not equally distributed. At low revs and idle stage both exhaust are pretty much at same sound level.

i am not sure if its relevant but i have received engine alerts in past which pointed to secondary air intake malfunctioning, agency kept resetting those errors and they go away only to come back again few days later. Agency has told me that i can ignore those alerts but i think there is a bigger issue which they are overlooking.

any thoughts on the non-matching exhaust sounds? i can easily tell the difference because i have Zard exhaust and they are pretty loud.

You haven't got baffles in one and not the other?

As it's a modern bike, has it got a diagnostic socket, like on a car?
I'll get their soon

I have just looked at a diagram for your bike's exhaust system, it has an equaliser pipe running between the two exhaust pipes below the engine, this should negate any discrepancy in pressure, could it possibly be blocked. It looks fairly simple to remove and check.

Might be worth a try.

Apologies, I have just noticed you have a Zard system, however if it's two silencers you have and retained original exhaust pipes the above should still apply.

Does the Zard  exhaust have removable baffles? Any difference there would certainly make a difference to the noise coming out the end, but would probably not affect performance. Indeed there could be a fault in one which causes this anomily.

Diagnostics are possible, but would be of no help here as there is no fault indication.

Quote any thoughts on the non-matching exhaust sounds?

One ear is more sensitive than the other?

Seriously I have a mismatch and the louder the noise or whatever the more the 'bad' ear shuts down.

Has it always been like this? Did you have the Zard system fitted from the start? Could you refit the original silences just to check if the problem still persists?

Are both spark plugs the same colour?

no it wasn't like this from the start. in-fact when i changed to zard, i didn't have this issue at the beginning, i am only noticing now.

Not sure about spark plugs, but it should be same, its a new bike with 1000 kms on it.

i dont know if its relevant, but someone bumped into my parked bike and it fell on the right side. on surface everything looks ok.

Well in that case I would check the right side exhaust and the rest of the bike very carefully, as that may well be the problem. Some damage must have been caused.

The bump may have caused the down pipe to silencer joint to leak, easy to check by putting gloved hand over end of offending silencer and listening at the joint
