The pedal is not the most aesthetically pleasing design, but it does work well. It is not set up properly in the pictures, probably sitting a bit high. My California will have footboards too, I love them.

Do you use your heal to depress the pedal? Looks like you’d have to point your toes down quite a bit to use it?

As I said the pedal is not set up properly yet. The pictures were to show the shape of the pedal. The second picture has the footboard tilted upwards. The pedal sits at the front of the footboard raised so that the brake bites before it dips below the footboard. I have found it works really well and is a lot more natural and easy to operate than the standard pedal. I now want another for my T3. I might fabricate one myself.
