If you are wondering which make of battery you might try next, have a peek at this extremely comprehensive set of comparison tests.

What I found out was IF you have an older Tonti with Bosch charging system it is set for a lead acid battery ie 14.2 V the AGM battery Bike like my V11 Le Mans has a Ducati charging system that hits 14.6V NOW you can get a regulator that IS solid state to fit a Bosch system that IS variable so YOU CAN up it to 14.6 volts without altering the rectifier JOB Done the guy to call is Paul Allen see alternative parts the part is UNdER £30 delivered to anywhere in the UK fits to the existing bracket and the existing plug from the Bosch alternator NO NEED to shell out £300+ to get the more modern systems the rectifier is very rarely faulty and anew one from the same guy German made STILL makes this the most cost effective way to use the AGM battery in a bike MADE for a lead acid battery

Read that topic again and still can't see how all those numbers help really ... the trouble with bench tests is just that, they're done on the bench. For example for the CCA tests he admits they didn't use an actual starter motor on an actual engine, but a (relatively) simple resistive dummy load. The dummy load WILL NOT behave like a real starter motor with a real mechanical load on it (i.e. an engine's flywheel)
Did anyone else notice that the two battery testers showed different Voltages compared to each other? Which only proves that one or both of them are inaccurate, if only slightly. |

I found the comparisons far more useful than the usual unsubstantiated comments denigrating an entire battery make on the basis of one experience. XX are sh*te and YY are brilliant.
Bit like bikes really. |
