LED bulbs will work fine, the only thing to watch is that they need the correct polarity - i.e. they only work if fitted the right way round, so if you put them in backwards they won't light. No damage will occur though so just turn them round if they're wrong. They can IMO be too bright though - the LED high beam indicator in my Ducati's dash is so bright it actually dazzles me when it's on, I have to stick black insulation tape over it so I can see where I'm going - and it still glows through that.

No additional wiring, apart from the indicator repeater if only one is fitted. Just plug and play.

Yes being wedge bulbs will be an advantage, can simply be turned around 180 dgrees to reverse the contacts. |

Virtually all the warning light bulb holders on my 1000SP have more or less disintegrated due to age so I was considering renewing them. Having read the experience of others re LED's and resistors, and not being good with electrics, today I've entered gramophone mode and will be looking to find Morris Minor type warning lights.

You can get LEDs made to work at 12 volts with resistors built in.

I did once rebuild a panel with new wedge bulbs and holders I got off eBay. The PCB I cleaned up and retinned. (With solder.) |

I’ve bought LED’s from Gutsibits, which are quite small, and
I also have a query out on the wedge type bulb holders which are a bit bigger. The original dash will be retained and I’ve made a couple of plates which will fit in the existing “dash”. Ideally, I’d like to be able to renew the bulbs / lights without stripping it all down, so that’s the direction I’m taking. Gutsibits said that the LED lights with resistor, are suitable for use in the charging circuit, so I’ll give it a try if I use them.
