My wife and I were walking the Tour of Mont Blanc last year, and on 6th Sept sitting outside the hotel at Col de la Forclaz having a rest we were treated to the site of three Brit registered bikes stylishly sweeping over the Col.
The first a BMW big touring thingy, the second a California and the third, I think, a Pan. Needless to say, the California provided the best sound track ! Just wanted to say hello if the rider is a member here !

I mentioned a vague idea some months ago about going to Chamonix. Ferry ticket is bought and sore arse cream ordered! I'm expecting hot weather across most of france and rain in the mountains.
Sore arse cream because of the seat and not 'cos of any dubious french practises I add
