What do the bolts/nuts look like?
OK these are missing on my restoration project so just have two matching holes that look like they will take a m8 bolt. However running close to the back of the housing is the rear disc..... So just how much clearance is there? Logic would say these fix bolts pointing out (nuts on outside) it the correct? What length are the bolts? Are the heads of the bolts modified? (may be flattened or secured in some way? Thanks :-)

I thought my V50 had short 8mm allen bolts screwing into the threaded hole in the carrier. That's what the parts list looks like.

Does sound more feasible, and also the ends flush with the back of the plate, so don't protrude. Remember similar on my big blocks. |

The workshop manual also suggests that. They screw in just the same as the front callipers.

I stripped mine recently to do the large oil seal. It's an M8 socket bolt that screws into a plain M8 nut that is sunk into the black disc guard part of the rear drive box.
Obviously the bolt has to be an exact length - mine tightens up flush with the end of the nut. Clearance is about 5mm from disc (due to the slightly concave shape of the disc guard. Hope that helps, Rich

Agreed, there are captive nuts on the back of the bevel box. You need to get the wheel & disc out to fit them, and as Rich says the correct bolts are a must.
