Hi all, my Lodola 235 has started to drip oil when running from the joint between the exhaust down pipe and the silencer.......anybody know where this might be coming from? The head and barrel shown no signs of leakage and I am wondering f it could be a head gasket problem? Or???? The oil even continues to drip for days after the engine has been running......
Cheers, Ben Tomlin

Is there an oil feed to the top end (rockers / valve guides)? Could be pooling in there and not draining away, then running down the exhaust guide.

Surely you would get loads of blue smoke from the exhaust if that were the case.

I'd have thought so, but we don't know if it's smoking or not. If the oil is coming from the exhaust pipe then leaking out from the pipe/silencer joint it has to be coming from the combustion chamber or the exhaust valve guide........doesn't it??

That seems like the favourite to me. How does the rocker box drain? |

Thanks folks, will do a little more investigation to see if exhaust is smoking and blue.......the oil is being returned to the oil tank well enough so pooling in head less unlikely?.......not sure about that and how oil would pool when the barrel on these bikes is at such an extreme angle? Knackered oil ring?......a possibility but I'll whip off the valve cover to see if there any clues under there before I do anything else.........

I had a Velo Viper that used to smoke badly. I discovered that the PO had bunged up the oil returns from the rocker gear with silicone, hence my suggestion.

Mine has dripped oil from the exhaust port exit at the head to downpipe joint, it hasnt done it for a while though, The engine is being rebuilt again as we speak so hopefully it wont do it again! It did have an oil ring problem, perhaps that is it. Let us know what you find.
