Thanks Dave, did guess as much.
What's quoted tends to be the contnuous, so usually you need to double it to get the 'blow' current. So long as it melts before the wires do! |

OK, always keen to learn. Have 25amp fuses given you problems, or are you just being cautious? |

If you want a cracking wiring diagram, beautifully laid out ask Chris950s nicely on the Moto Guzzi Club GB forum. They are well worth the money, just a bit of a pain for him to do too many - works of art akin to the London underground map Edited by Brian UK - 31 Oct 2018 at 22:30 |

Neither. IMO 25 amp is a bit higher than necessary for the calculated load on each circuit, 16 amp is more than enough.

The generator only pushes out around 20 amps.

... while battery can put out at least 10 times that, and the wire making the short circuit will be glowing red hot |

Is the 25 amp fuse rating anything to do with the dynamo being rated at 25amps or is that just coincidence?

That would make sense. Not account for wire rating tho. |

The modern thinsulate cable is a lot higher rated and really is thin, Towza rewired my V1000 a couple of years ago fantastic job the led add on bulbs and thinsulate along with blade fuses and utilising micro relays from PyroDan plugged into proper relay bases means it all works way better the vr at headlamp way better than it was and therefore lights way better he added new headlamp new halo spots hi level led rear light with brake lights as with back box on the V1000 the top box almost obscures the rear light cluster to a truck driver the hi level one fitted to the bottom edge of base plate marker lights to top of wing rack indicators ....
