Hoping for some info so I know what gets painted/plated/polished while I'm rebuilding a 70 Eldo. Parts I'm interested in are the front and rear brake covers/hubs, generator belt cover, dash (speedo only), and valve covers. Don't  have to go 100% original, but would like to if its not cost prohibitive. Sorry if my terminology isn't correct, my first bike without pedals.
Suggestions for Texas plating shops with good reputations would also be appreciated.

Hello and welcome to the forum. All of the parts you mention would have been polished when new.No paint or chrome involved. You say the bike is a 1970 Eldorado. The Ambassador 750 was around in 1970 but the 850 Eldorado was introduced later I believe.

I've just been been polishing a load of parts for a Ducati I'm working on. I don't want the engine too shiny so I've done it all by hand - wire wool seems to give a nice clean but dull finish.
For some of the other parts I've used a little kit that fits in my electric drill - much quicker on simple shapes, but easy to go too shiny.

Sorry, Ambassador. Don't know why I had Eldo on my brain.

I like polished a lot better than chrome, I can do that myself, should already have everything I need if I can find it. Was worried about the expense if all those were plated.

Thanks every one.
