does anyone know if the large bearing in the transmission cover GU 9220170 70*110*13 is fixed in or pressed in as its resisting our best efforts using heat and force to remove it.
AND the oil seal at the other end under the roller bearing GU 90403547 was a double seal type but the replacement from Stine is only a single seal will this be sufficient ?? |

This must be the bevel box bearing 92201070(SKF 16014) which is a press fit in the bevel box cover and is quoted in the workshop manual as needing a `suitable punch` to remove. I think when I refurbed my V50/3 bevel box all the supplied seals were single lip type and all seemed well when run on the bike. The whole job was a ball ache and not a job I would repeat unless I new there was a problem. I use a local bearing supplier now for replacement seals and bearings as the sizes are generally available on Harpers website.

after cleaning up the big bearing is good enough to leave I've replaced the needle roller in the box and the two taper bearings in the tunnel are also ok.
the drive box is back together now and I'm working on the gearbox |
