hi all,
just bought a 1979 V50 mk 2 which I am slowly servicing.

the original book states 10-50 which I am happy to find but my Cali 1100i uses 20-50 or 10-40 - so can I use any of those oils in the V50 please

thank you

If you live in  colder climate then thinner oil, hotter climate thicker oil, used straight 50 on my Norton and that was like treacle. Someone will give you better advice who actually owns one I'm sure

My guess is that the figures given refer to Italy, which enjoys a marginally nicer climate than Dorset, so I agree with Martin, I'd go for the 10 40.

10W40 every time. But really it won't make any difference if you use 20W50.

On an older, somewhat worn engine, you can get the oil light flashing on tickover on a hot day with the lighter oil.

Brian.
