I noticed while I was out for a ride for the other day that the mileometer has stopped working, though the speedo is working normally. Anyone with any previous experience with this?

I have heard that the cogs which drive the mileometer can wear.

I had wondered about wear. The right hand digit is stuck on 9, and it tremors occasionally as though it is trying to click over. Perhaps the extra resistance of trying to turn the digit next to it is just enough to make a worn cog tooth slip?
I will probably take it of to have a look.
Pete.

The Veglia's fitted to Loops are a bit strange. The electronic tachometer fitted ti my 850 GT would go berserk when I first got the bike.It would sweep the whole range of the dial rapidly as I rode along.I mentioned it on this site at the time. After several thousand miles it progressively calmed down until it became as steady as you could wish for.It still is!

My tachometer bounces around after a gear change, but settles down after 5 or 6 oscillations. Speedometer has been OK, although reads a bit high I think.

On the original question, I have heard of another loop where the odometer is faulty, but the speedometer works OK. From memory, I think he said it mainly doesn't work and then will sometimes appear to add a lot of miles quickly.
