It's universally ackowledged that the V7 II has pretty firm suspension, even harsh on the pot-holed roads of 21st century GB.

We also know that tyres are part of the suspension system, so why oh why have I spent the last 3 years riding at Guzzi recommended pressures (F 35psi, R 36psi)?

I've just dropped them by 1psi to F 34/R 35 and it's made noticeable difference! Not perfect, but the jarring jolts have been tamed and general handling and cornering ability seem as good as ever. It didn't feel squirmy on two of my favourite 90 deg bends*

So, before investing £££ in new dampers and fork inserts, give it a go - you might just find it makes the difference you're looking for.

* Cat and Fiddle Lane near Stanley/West Hallam in case you wondered.

I felt my V7 Classic was way too twitchy on the recommended tyre pressures, so I dropped the front to 28psi and rear to 30psi. It handles way better and feels well grounded at any angle. This on Avon AM26 Road Riders.
My Enfield's recommended pressures are 18psi front, rear 28psi. I kid ye not. AM26 again, and handles beautifully.
I'm around 160 LBS, so not heavy, and only ride solo, if that makes a difference.

Give it a bit longer and someone will quote the handbook at 36/36 and tell you you're wrong. BTW I use 32/36 and my Classic handles a treat.
V7 Classic Black and gold was the best. But green & black was nice too. Now blue is in!

This is often a bone of contention, I found with some of my bikes/tyre combination I had to look up on manufacturers website and even ask them for correct tyre pressures , the one that was a fair bit different to the manual was the V11 Le Mans with Metzler tyres ..... funny how some tyres seem to suit some bikes more than others or the way someone uses their bike ....bit like "Oil" and What tyres .......

LOL, you're right Ken, I bet everyone has their own firm opinions... I still have Sport Demons on my V7 so can't comment on how other tyres might behave.

Anyroadup, I thought I'd mention it in relation to the V7 'cause the compression damping is SO damned hard it nearly jolts you out the saddle!

The warm weather helps soften the suspension

Softens the rubber too, considering they don't do winter tyres for bikes.

The other day I took my V7C out for a run to the next town up the highway- about 60 miles up the road.  Since these were the “Wide Open Spaces”, I was cruising at 80-85 for most of the way.

When I got home, I noticed the front tire looked a bit low, so I checked it.  9 PSI.  This bike doesn’t get ridden all that often, so it looks like I should pay a bit more attention to tire pressures and stuff like that.  The rear was reading about 15.

Oddly enough, it didn’t handle bad in the turns.

Is there a tyre inflater which uses a 13amp mains socket instead of the fag lighter socket.

As has been said before, any opinion regarding handling is purely subjective..........

At that low a pressure you were lucky.....I guess you had tubless TYRES?.
But please, this is a UK Forum, and those black things on your wheels are TYRES.  I tire of TYRES being called tires!
