Hmm, that's interesting Norm'. You got me wondering so I've just been down to the shed to check the boxes that my Gillardoni kits came in. On the boxes for the 850GT kit is a label stating 83mm bore for T3 and V7850GT. The boxes that the V7 Special kits came in have no model identifying labels.I assumed that they were and probably are correct, but even if they had been 82.5mm piston and bore would that have made any difference to fitting and running them?

If the pistons are the right height shape etc then being .5mm undersized in corresponding bores shouldn’t matter. I’ve never felt that having a 20thou rebore made a noticeable performance increase other than that from correcting previous wear.

Yes, I've installed V7 Sport kits in an Ambassador engine and they worked well. The only real differences are the V7 Sport pistons have a relief in the crown for intake valve clearance and the compression ratio is slightly higher (9.6:1 vs. 9.2:1 if I remember correctly). |

Thanks for that Amboman
Is there any reason you fitted the sport kit does it give you a little better performance ? What are the most compatible big ends you could get eg I think the original setup is a little hard to come by I think MG says that the ones he sells the holes don't line up, any idea on this ? Thanks James

The reason I used the 'Sport kits instead of Ambo kits was due to the latter being unavailable at the time with no ETA on the next batch. It did give a little better performance, which was handy since the bike had a huge sidecar attached. These are the connecting rod bearing shells I use: These could be used as well, one would just need to drill the oil hole if necessary:
