Hi George, The seller must have spent quite a bike on the super Alce, looks like its had a complete respray! The best thing he did was fit the double silencer even though the cigar one was new. Did he send you that with the bike? The Q plate is a pain a neck, meaning MOTs and road tax.

Hi Jerry, it would seem that the bike has had some mechanical restoration as well as the respray. Everything works well so far, hope I am not tempting fate
. Yes I have the cigar silencer. I can change registration to historic on the first of April so I will tax it then. I have had a little ride up and down my road and was surprised how comfortable it is. I remembered that Glawster had a Falcone Sport so trawled through his posts till I found his tips on starting an horizontal single. I have been practicing and can now start it in 2 or 3 kicks, untill I have an audience gathered around to watch me .

Hi Jerry, After some information please. I have noticed that headlight and parking light are LEDs. Although all lights and horn work when ignition switch is on, but engine not running, there is no fuse in fuse holder in the headlight shell. Would you know if wiring has been altered as I would have thought that there would be no supply without the fuse!

Hi George, I can't remember for sure but I think there was a festoon bulb type fuse in there. I put the LEDs in as the dynamo is feeble. I also fitted a fancy LED tail/stop light. Previously I had found myself groping my way home in the dark from a VMCC meeting as the puny tungsten bulb got dimmer and dimmer. The headlight bulb is particularly good and is not dependent on a shiny reflector. I'm pretty sure the "key" was only ever for lights and horn.
Starting: Ease piston over TDC with decompresser pulled in, let kickstart up to the top then swift kick all the way to the end of its stroke. Even when warm, a quick lodge of the tickler, unless the last guy changed something. There's a video on YouTube of an Italian guy starting one by rocking the kickstart at the bottom of its travel before kicking it into life, quite interesting. |

I sent letters to and fro to DVLA but they wouldn't remove the Q plate. Hopefully the system has changed.
