Good point, but since you need all those bags of sugar to do the nut up to the right torque, it makes sense to use them to get the nut off as well

I don't use sugar being diabetic.
I often use my torque wrench to undo things like wheel nuts as it is the longest wrench in the tool box I have a very old one with the sprung pointer it is surprisingly accurate. Another was gifted to me and is a torsion bar. There are also 2 newer ones different ranges with the adjustment on the handle.

I have been inside my Nevada Classic fuel tank and so far have not found the torque required to refit the 6No 7mm hex bolts. Surprisingly there is no mention of them in the torque table above. The only comment I have found is 'to do them up snug'. This not only ignores any sequence (usually using an opposite diagonal one) but might lead to petrol leaks. Should one use a sealant on the gasket also appears not to be mentioned.
Does anyone know which maintenance / workshop manual covers the servicing of the fuel pump and filters?

Gasket or rubber seal?
The V7's use rubber so a torque is meaningless, the compression is set by the plates curved edge being thinner than the rubber by a known amount. Just do it up tight so the bolts don't back off and let the plate move, or use a standard setting (20 ft/lbs??) for the given thread size/material if having numbers on the spanner is soothing. Last two V7's I just used a ring spanner and three fingers, no leaks. If it is a gasket (fibre?) then there is going to be a sweet spot between leaking and crushing it, so a torque setting might be best. Doing up patterns of fasteners across the diagonal is just good practice they expect everyone to follow. Manual writers only state it when critical. When they start with diagrams showing which diagonal first, you know its a one turn at a time, under torque then correct torque job because the design engineer dug a hole for himself and those who follow. That would depend on how long your spanner is and where you place your fingers so it would .
