After much gnashing and wailing I came to the conclusion that the weight of the v100 was a developing issue. I live on a steep hill and my drive is also quite steep. The two combined make for an interesting shuffle from my garage to the road and then off. I reluctantly decided to seek a lighter, more manageable bike. Minus around 40kgs later I have a Trident 660. It's not close to the Guzzi v100in terms of build quality, but I can easily manage it. It's the first time I have ever bought a new bike, accessorised it and got money back from a part exchange!
So, goodbye for now. I may be back at some point. Thanks for being such a good forum.

The Triumph is a nice bike, a good compromise between power and weight.. I too now look at the weight first of any bike I consider, the penalty of "maturity" I guess..... Have fun on the Trident... Cheers, Adrian Bristol UK |
