On the V35 (and the V50) one of the things that has always erked me is the totally useless side stand. Thankfully the centre stand is so easy to use. I've seen various different remedies to modify the side stand, but they all involve more engineering than I (and my limited tools) can comprehend.
Happily, an easier fix came to light (via a Forum and Facebook) this fix involves mounting a Z750 side stand on to the Guzzi centre stand mount. To fit it, it was necessary to drill and tap a hole and to remove a good chunk of the excess metal from the Z750 side stand mount. The most difficult part of the job was trying to refit the exhaust system!
I have only just fitted it, so it hasn't been really tested, but on the initial results it looks excellent

That looks a great idea. I never use the side stand on my V35II, I simply don't trust it..
As you say, luckily the centre stand is a doddle to use, even as I get older (and weaker!).
Did you need to alter the Guzzi frame at all?

Cheers,

You're tempting me to do same ....it's the anxiety factor when putting it on sidestand (engine off obviously) while shutting the garage door that kills me - I always turn around to slam garage door & expect a 'crunch' noise.

Yes, I drilled and tapped a hole adjacent to the centre stand pivot bolt to act as a second mounting point for the Kawasaki side stand mount so that it doesn't "rotate"
As I mentioned earlier, I've not really used the bike since finishing the side stand mount, but when manoeuvring the bike around the garage, it seems totally solid and inspires me with confidence (unlike the original)

Hopefully you will have the opportunity to see the modification when the weather warms up

If anyone is interested in this mod, have a search on the Wild Guzzi Forum (I tried posting a link which didn't work)
