Italy still has 5- day quarantine unless travelling for business.  

In any case, the centenary celebrations are delayed to next year.

I think that this is the most sensible course of action all round
Mandello is a relatively small town, and a further outbreak could easily overcome the local hospital
hopefully ti will give them time to recover and plan for next year
it will also give me time ot get my heap serviced and clock a few miles to see what falls off !
