My 850-T is fitted with contemporary polished alloy BMW indicators which just look wrong and are wrong.
Worse still the rear ones are mounted on the rear number plate via a Cali pannier rack mount.

I want to fit the proper CEV indicators, but I haven't found any for what I consider a reasonable price for indicators, not even repro CEV.
At £80-£90+ for just the heads, I think that's too much!
On top of that I have yet to source any stalks at any price.

If anyone has a tidy second hand set that they would like to sell I would be interested if you're not going to rob me..

In the mean time I am considering fitting a set of pattern Lucas ones like on my Triumph. They are within a squint of the CEV design if you don't look too hard and under half the price.

My Question is.. Will a CEV lens fit onto the Lucas head?
The Lucas lens diameter where it fits the head is about 67mm (Obviously an imperial size originally.)
The screw centres are 54mm.

Would anyone out there be kind enough to measure a CEV lens please?

If they could be made to fit, I reckon I could fool most of the people some of the time with a set of CEV lenses on Lucas indicators, even myself probably..

Thanks in advance.

Thanet scooter Services may stock them so they may.

Thank you Min, I'll try and give them a call in the morning. So I will.

Meanwhile I've been searching and discovered that Laverda fitted Lucas indicators on the early SF1 until they went with Bosch for a while and eventually the early rounded back CEV design

Also looks like finding a set of lenses might be more expensive than a set of indicators.
Lucas is looking better all the time!

Hello all,
There is a set of Aprilia indicators on ebay for £150 or offer, search Guzzi Laverda Aprilia indicators.  They are original fitment on my T3 and I think was original on 850T.
Long time since posting but nice to see everyone.

My 1972 loop has Lucas indicators which are factory fit. There are lots of repro versions around but better to buy at a show where you can see what quality they are. Some are better than others.

Yup Aprilia were standard fitting on the 850T and early 850T3. The Lucas indicator was also fitted (possibly by the UK importer - the one based in Redhill?) but not sure about the thread into the headlamp as the Lucas stems may be imperial whilst the Aprilia/CEV headlamps are metric.

CEV 207 18343s (fitted to later T3s, etc.) are getting rare and £££. The pattern ones do not have the part number on the back of the indicator body. I paid ~£25 each for pattern ones in Mandello, originals were ~£35 so a set of four for £150 is not bad.

Many thanks for the historical references to indicator evolution on Guzzis
It seems to echo what I found out about the Laverdas.

I've got a feeling that The Italians didn't consider winkers necessary back in the day until it became compulsory in some of the Countries they exported to.
Good old England appears to have been ahead of the game at that time and were able to supply a ready made product.

Thanks for the heads up to the set in the Netherlands Phil, but I think £150 for that scabby lot is outrageous!
That's silly money for a set of indicators in any condition and I point blank draw the line... Sorry.

I'll be getting a set of pattern Lucas ones which will be much better than the German items currently fitted and have a little historical credibility with what I now know.
I wonder if BMW indicators are worth £150 a set?

Just a minor matter of checking the threads in the headlamp and making a mirror stalk type adapter from 7/16ths UNF or UNC To M10 or M12 depending on what I find.
It'll be a small two hole dropper plate on the rear as I don't want to drill the hole out in the chrome grab rail.

Thanks again to you folks on here. Your help is invaluable and greatly appreciated.

Photo from the loop-frame section in the museum at Mandello when I was there last year.
The red bike is like mine (except shinier) and has CEV indicators I think.
The black bike behind looks to have Lucas indicators with more pointed lenses. This is what my bike is fitted with.

One of my rear indicators had a cracked body and I was unable to repair it again, so I bought a pattern part without any stalk. I wanted to replace only the body in order to preserve the patina, but the thread in the body was different so it wouldn't fit to the stalk. Metric on the replacement and some sort of Imperial on the orginal. In the end I found that the lenses were interchangeable so I made up a new stalk and used the new body with the old lens which is the most visible part.

These are the correct early Aprilia indicators, in rough condition but might be salvable.

They look like they came from the rear of a California with that angled flat bar indcator support.

Bless you for thinking of me Gianni.
I managed to have a little sale on ebay recently and I've now got a set of Lucas pattern indicators coming, hopefully on Monday.

Which one of those Aprilia indicators has the correct lens?
They are actually more than new pattern CEV ones by the time I've got another two and matching lenses. Not to mention stalks. My 4 new ones were less than those 2, complete with shiny stalks!
When I get the Lucas alikes fitted I'll see how much I can get for the BMW ones I'll be taking off, Y'never know I might be able to afford a set of CEV if it goes well.

Not sure which lens is correct. Not sure even Aprilia would know, probably an in-production change after a die wore out.

IIRC, the screws were self-tapping into the zinc body so would likely be a messy job.

And to think I had a full usable set of four which I gave to a friend restoring an old Cali...
