The 1200 took me from home (Dorset/Wiltshire borders) to:
Portsmouth and on to Brittany
Brittany down to The Gers
Accross France and Italy (unfortunately this had large sections of Autostrada in it Cry due to bad weather.
On to Slovenia (a beutiful corner of Europe).
Back via The Stelvio pass (if its on your bucket list, dont bother, there were far far more challenging passes without loads of idiots on them) then the Dolomites over the Alps at Val d'Isère
Then back up through France via Nevers to Newhaven... and back 4 days early along a bumpy weed infested road work choked A27M27 to home. Autumn and the cold weather had arrived in Northern France - fields were flooded, therefore its likley camp sites would at the best be soggy. Dark by 8 and not light till around 8 - all pretty depressing - so home I came.
I did a daily update on FB - anyone who want to go through it is welcome - let me know, and I will send you a link.Or if there is a real clamour for the grizzly details I will cut and paste it all into here.
Vital stats for the trip:, because I sometimes see queries as to what people should budget for a trip. My benchmark per day is £100 - that could be 100 Euros really - then I know I should be OK.
Actually this trip as far as I can see cost just over £1500, or about £91 a day - it was all camping apart from six nights staying with friends, and one night in a hotel over 23 nights - so another year and the £100 benchmark is still right!! Camping cost between £33 and £0 a night, but mostly was around £18. Most days there was one meal in a sit down restaurant, and then of course quite a lot of petrol and red wine!
Other than a faulty (brand new) battery the 1200 performed wonderfully - shes now run in, as she has covered over 100,000 miles Big smile

Bit of bad luck having that battery problem at the start.

Indeed Brian, note to self, in future do not put new battery straight on Optimiser, make it work to prove it is OK, BEFORE you take it to the middle of no where.
Also beware Motobatt batteries.

Shame about the battery problem but with regard to Motobatt batteries.I've had one on a Loop for five and a half years and it's still good, the one on my Bullet has survived ok for around four years. So I guess it's down to luck, which of course it should not be.

Quite a while ago I had a Motobatt on my Buell that lasted many years, it's replacement expired just after the warranty... Had another on my Venom that did the same so I don't buy them any more...
Mind you there's a Motobatt that came with the V50 project and that still seems ok, maybe it's an older one.......
